Window Coverings for Mountain Homes

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

When you live in the mountains window coverings might be something you might think you do not need. Many of our Evergreen Conifer Homes afford us the ability to leave our windows without blinds or coverings to bring the outdoors inside and many homes are remote and private and so coverings might be something you decide to fore go when you move to the mountains.

You only need to live here for a short time to realize how strong the sun can be and how quickly it can fade your home furnishings. If you have antique furniture or Oriental rungs window coverings will save them from the harsh rays of the sun.

Window coverings come in all kinds of styles, colors, and designs for every taste and purpose. Some windows seem impossible to even comprehend how you would even start to add coverings. One home we owned in Evergreen had the most amazing windows that offered a great view, however my wooden floor, and my furnishings all began to fade from the sun. In the winter, on the cold evenings, we would feel the cold coming off the windows even thought we had double-glazing. The right window coverings really helped.

Where to start? It all seems so daunting, your room styles, your personal style, the reason for coverings, is it for privacy, protection from the suns rays, or simply to add some pizazz to a room. This is where professional help can be invaluable, they can come to your home and suggest some of the options available. There are many resources to choose from and we have found that the team at Taylor Window Coverings offers excellent service and superior products for the Evergreen Conifer homeowner contact them to learn more about ‘covering up’.

Evergreen Pumpkin Patch, JP Total

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

JP Total Pumpkin Patch ColoradoHalloween is for kids big and small and a trip to the Pumpkin Patch to pick out the perfect pumpkin really makes you feel like fall is in the air. With the crunch of fallen Aspen leaves underfoot and the nip of frost in the air there is something about picking out the perfect pumpkin for carving that just makes you feel like time has stood still and for a short while you allow yourself to be a kid again, coming up with the best pumpkin carving.

My first trip to the JP Total Pumpkin Patch in Evergreen was a number of years ago, I went with my sister, and we picked out a number of pumpkins that we thought were going to make the best Jack-O-Lanterns. Each year the pumpkin patch has become bigger and better with all kinds of fall items to choose from; corn stalks to decorate your home, fancy gourds, straw bales, Indian corn and just about everything you need to make your house look the part for fall and for Halloween. When you go, try the fresh Colorado apple cider and remember to bring the camera and snap a great shot of the kids among the pumpkins.

Oh, and our Jack-O-Lanterns came out great, they lasted quite a while before the first snows came and made them twist and turn out of recognition, then they made it to the compost pile.

J.P. Total
is open every October and is located on Hwy 74 in Evergreen.
